Exporting Reports from SavePoint

Last edited: August 4, 2026

SavePoint gives you detailed reports on your finances, from spending breakdowns to net worth trends to cash flow analysis. But sometimes you need that data outside the app. Maybe you want to share numbers with a spouse, hand something to a financial advisor, or just keep records in your own filing system.

Here's how to export reports from SavePoint for external analysis or record keeping.

What Reports Can You Export

SavePoint includes over ten professional report types that you can generate and export. The main categories include:

Net Worth reports showing your assets, liabilities, and overall financial position over time.

Cashflow reports breaking down income versus expenses by category, month, or custom date range.

Budget performance reports comparing what you planned to spend against what you actually spent.

Transaction history exports letting you pull all transactions for a specific account, category, or time period.

Balance sheet snapshots capturing your financial position at a specific point in time.

How to Generate a Report

Navigate to the Reports section from the main sidebar. You'll see your available report types organized by category.

Select the report you want. Most reports let you customize the date range, which accounts to include, and how the data is grouped (by month, category, account, etc.).

Click Generate to create the report. SavePoint will display it on screen first so you can verify it shows what you need before exporting.

Export Formats

Once you've generated a report, look for the Export option. SavePoint supports several formats:

CSV files work with any spreadsheet application. Excel, Google Sheets, and LibreOffice all open CSV files directly. This is the most flexible option if you want to do additional analysis or calculations.

Spreadsheet exports give you formatted Excel-compatible files with headers, totals, and basic formatting already applied.

The export happens locally. Because SavePoint runs offline on your device, your exported files stay on your computer. Nothing goes to a cloud server.

💡 Pro Tip

If you're sharing reports with someone else, CSV format works on virtually any computer. They won't need SavePoint or any specific software to open and view your data.

Common Use Cases

Annual tax preparation: Export a full year of transactions categorized by type. Your accountant can use this to identify deductible expenses, verify income, and prepare your return.

Household budgeting discussions: Generate a monthly spending report and export it to share with your partner. Having the data in a spreadsheet makes it easy to annotate and discuss.

Financial advisor meetings: Export your net worth history and cash flow trends. Advisors appreciate having actual numbers rather than estimates.

Personal record keeping: Some people export monthly reports as a backup record of their financial activity. Even though SavePoint keeps all your data, having separate exported files provides another layer of documentation.

Mortgage or loan applications: Lenders often want to see income and asset verification. Export account balances and transaction history for the required periods.

Working with Exported Data

Once you have a CSV or spreadsheet file, you can manipulate it however you want. Add columns for notes. Create pivot tables. Build charts. Merge multiple reports together.

The data is yours. You exported it from software you own, running on your device, from financial information that never left your computer in the first place. Do what you need with it.

Scheduled Exports

If you want regular exported reports, consider building a routine. First of the month, generate and export the previous month's cash flow report. End of quarter, export your net worth snapshot. End of year, pull comprehensive transaction history.

Store these files in a dedicated folder on your computer or backup drive. Over time, you'll build a financial archive that exists independently from any software.

Your Data, Your Way

SavePoint keeps your financial data offline and in your control. Generate professional reports, export them when you need to, and keep your information where it belongs.
