Version 1.6.4 is here. This one is smaller and more focused than the last few releases, and the focus this time is the Balance Sheet, which now has a View Settings panel giving you more control over how the page opens and which day it reads from. Alongside that, envelope budgets pick up your starting cash on their own, and two display bugs that hit non-English users are fixed. Thank you again for being part of the SavePoint community. Nearly everything in this release started as a message from someone using the software.
Balance Sheet: View Settings
The Balance Sheet has always let you pick an Index Day, which we use to show the particular day in a month the daily balance pulls from. What it did not do was save that choice for future sessions, or tell you which date you were looking at. This update handles both. The new View button is found next to the Index Day box.
What you can set (in View):
- Setting the period to "Current" means today's balances (the new default) or your Index Day. Current now means current.
- Which day month and year views read: the 1st of the month (default), the last day of each month, a specific day, or the day you last picked.
- Which view opens first: any view, or the view you last used, which is the default so nothing changes unless you want it to.
- Remember collapsed sections and categories for your assets and expenses.
- Remember your household member filter (only shown when household mode is on).
Changes apply as you make them, with no Save button, the same way the Transactions View settings already work. They are saved per login rather than per machine, so two people sharing a computer each keep their own layout.
Improved labels on the Balance Sheet also allow you to better understand your data. The single view column header now reads "Today, September 22, 2026" or "As of September 22, 2026", and month and year views carry a one-line note above the table mentioning this as well, for example "Balances as of the 22nd of each month". Dates follow your own language.
Envelope Budgeting: your starting cash lands where it should
We identified a bug with Envelope Budgeting where if you turned on envelope mode during the Setup Wizard, your accounts were still at zero at that moment (which would normally make sense), so there was no cash to hand to your envelopes. SavePoint was supposed to catch up the first time you opened the Budget page. It did this correctly, unless you entered a transaction first, which switched the catch-up off permanently. The result was an envelope budget that never received your starting balance, with Unassigned Cash at zero while the Balance Sheet showed your real money.
Now, the first time you open Budget after updating, SavePoint compares your envelopes against your Balance Sheet cash and moves the difference into Unassigned Cash, with a permanent entry in Reconciliation history.
We tested this feature and determined that it should be safe for existing users. However, as always, we do recommend you create a backup to be sure.
The way this works is:
- It only ever adds. If your envelopes already hold more than your Balance Sheet does, nothing moves. SavePoint explains the gap and waits for you to update your balances, because pulling money back out is not a decision we want the program to make for you automatically.
- This never runs twice, and it will not touch a month you have already closed.
- This is not a reset. Money you already funded stays exactly where you put it. Only the missing difference moves.
- Reconciliation history now shows this detail, so you can see what moved and when.
Two fixes for non-English users
Liability balances were showing the opposite sign in the seven non-English languages, on individual rows as well as category and section totals. Separately, the Balance Sheet was working out its dates from UTC rather than your own, which meant users in Europe, Asia and Australia were being shown the balances from the day before their Index Day. In both cases the stored data was always correct and nothing needs to be re-entered. The display has been corrected.
Smaller fixes
- Add Transaction pre-fills your local date. Previously it used UTC, so entering a transaction in the evening west of the UK pre-filled tomorrow.
- Closing the envelope setup wizard with the X now counts as having seen it. Before, it reopened on every Budget visit.
- Reconciliation history and Catch Up appear in Settings as soon as envelope mode has been used, rather than only after finishing the onboarding wizard.
- Amounts in the envelope screens now follow your own language and currency.
- Re-running the Setup Wizard no longer rebuilds your envelopes.
- Help and tutorials updated for the new Balance Sheet settings.
- More database and settings-storage improvements for long-term stability.

We are hard at work on some future improvements tailored toward the Transactions page, coming out of user feedback. There will be some smaller improvements at first, tailored toward checkbook workflows that several of you have asked for by name. After those, we are looking to build out a proper checkbook register view and an optional link between Transactions and the Balance Sheet. More to come!
