<p>Version 1.6.2 is here, built around two things. The first is a brand new<strong>Bulk Edit</strong> feature for the Transactions page: select transactions across every page, change up to eight fields in a single operation, preview every change before anything is saved, and undo it afterward from a persistent, conflict-safe history. The second is a complete <strong>rebuild of our in-app help guides</strong>. We rewrote all 11 of them to be clearer, more useful, and focused on how you actually use SavePoint. Rounding it out: a switchable Transactions table style, protection for those completing the setup for the first time, and a solid round of theme and interface fixes. Thank you, as always, for being part of the SavePoint community. Your feedback shaped nearly every change below.</p>

<h3>Bulk Edit: Change Many Transactions at Once</h3>
<p>Did you make a mistake somewhere along the way? We already added the ability to filter by import batch, but that stops short of allowing you to make mass updates to problems you may have had. Editing transactions one at a time is fine for a stray typo. It is painful when you need to recategorize a whole month of imports, tag every business expense, or fix a merchant name across dozens of rows. Bulk Edit turns that into a single, previewable operation.</p>
<p><strong>Select exactly what you mean, across pages.</strong> Row selection now survives page navigation and table re-renders, so your checked rows stay checked as you move around. With pagination on, checking the header select-all offers a spreadsheet and Gmail-style <strong>"Select all N matching filters"</strong> banner to extend your selection across every page. <strong>Shift+Click</strong> a second checkbox to select an entire range, spreadsheet style, and the whole checkbox cell is now a click target, so you no longer have to hit the tiny box. Changing any filter clears the selection, so you can never silently edit rows you cannot see.</p>
<p><strong>Change up to eight fields in one pass.</strong> A new <strong>Bulk Edit (N)</strong> button opens a modal where every field starts off; only the sections you enable are applied:</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Description</strong> - find and replace (case-insensitive by default, with a case-sensitive toggle), set to a new value, or add a prefix or suffix (your spaces are preserved exactly).</li>
<li><strong>Category</strong> - amounts automatically re-sign to match the new category type.</li>
<li><strong>Currency</strong> - relabel the currency (amounts are not converted, and SavePoint tells you so).</li>
<li><strong>Tags</strong> - add, remove, replace all, or clear, using the same clickable pill picker as the per-transaction editor.</li>
<li><strong>Notes</strong> - replace, add to the end, or add to the beginning.</li>
<li><strong>Account</strong> - reassign for reporting.</li>
<li><strong>Owner</strong> (Household mode) - assign to a member, Shared, or Unassigned.</li>
<li><strong>Return / Refund / Credit</strong> - mark or unmark, for expense transactions.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Nothing is applied until you say so.</strong> A preview step shows how many transactions each change will touch, plus every skip and the exact reason (split transactions, no match found, already has that value, and so on). A <strong>"Show affected transactions"</strong> drill-down lists every row that will change, with each field's old value struck through next to the new one, in friendly names rather than IDs. When it looks right, Apply is labeled with the exact row count.</p>
<p>Bulk Edit works in both table styles, in both budgeting modes (it is fully envelope-safe, respecting closed-period rules exactly like a single edit), and with pagination on or off.</p>
<p><strong>And every bulk edit can be undone.</strong> The success toast carries an Undo button, and a persistent <strong>History and Undo</strong> viewer keeps your ten most recent batches, surviving restarts. Undo is conflict-safe: <strong>newer changes always win</strong>, so anything you edited or deleted after a bulk edit is skipped and reported, never overwritten. You can undo batches in any order and unwind a chain of edits cleanly.</p>

<h3>Every Help Guide, Rebuilt</h3>
<p>We rebuilt SavePoint's entire in-app help system. All 11 guides (Dashboard, Transactions, Accounts, Cash Flow, Balance Sheet, Budget, Goals, FIRE, Yearly Trends, Reports, and Settings) were rewritten to be clearer, more useful, and focused on how you actually use the app, with technical jargon stripped out and every guide made accurate to the offline edition of SavePoint. The Budget guide now walks through both budgeting styles, Classic and Envelope, rather than just one, and we tightened up the copy across the board for consistency.</p>
<p>As part of the rebuild, the guides are now available in all 8 supported languages, alongside the guided page tutorials, so the help speaks whatever language you run SavePoint in.</p>

<h3>Choose Your Transactions Table Style</h3>
<p>The Transactions View settings gained a <strong>Table Style</strong> switch, so you can choose between the traditional table and the collapsible, Balance-Sheet-style table right where you are working. Your choice is remembered and stays in sync with Settings &gt; Preferences &gt; Display.</p>

<h3>Setup Progress Guard</h3>
<p>Navigating away from an unfinished first-time setup (by clicking any navigation link, for example Settings) now shows a clear warning that your setup progress is not saved, with a simple Stay or Leave choice, instead of silently bouncing you back to the wizard. The normal finish-to-dashboard path is unaffected.</p>

<h3>Fixes and Refinements</h3>
<ul>
<li><strong>Pagination toggle</strong> now appears in the traditional table mode, not just the collapsible one.</li>
<li><strong>View settings, the View button, and the column labels</strong> (including the Owner, Tags, and Notes headers) are now fully translated.</li>
<li><strong>Mainframe theme:</strong> solid colored buttons inside button groups were rendering black-on-black, and now show their accent color across the app.</li>
<li><strong>Dark themes:</strong> toast action buttons that could be invisible now use a style that reads on every theme.</li>
<li><strong>Bulk Edit history timestamps</strong> now display in your local timezone and date format.</li>
<li><strong>Prefix and suffix spaces</strong> are preserved exactly as typed.</li>
<li><strong>Edit Mode:</strong> rapidly pressing Ctrl+S or Save All no longer creates duplicate transactions.</li>
</ul>

<p>Version 1.6.1 is here, and it is built around one big, carefully considered addition and a set of refinements that make everyday importing faster and more accurate. The headline is <strong>optional database encryption</strong>, a way to lock your entire SavePoint database behind a password for anyone who wants a higher security posture. Alongside it, we have made SavePoint's import auto-categorizer noticeably smarter, added two new date filters and a new type filter to the Transactions page, and made the import wizard show you more of your actual file before you commit. As always, everything here is opt-in where it should be, off by default where it should be, and shaped by your feedback. Thank you for being part of the SavePoint community.</p>

<h3>Encryption at Rest: Optional, and Only If You Want It</h3>
<p>SavePoint has always stored your data locally on your own machine. Version 1.6.1 adds the option to go a step further and <strong>encrypt the entire database file</strong> with AES-256, so it cannot be opened by anyone without your password. This is entirely optional, off by default, and can be turned back off at any time. Nothing changes for existing users unless you choose to turn it on.</p>
<p>We built encryption to serve two purposes:</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>A stronger security posture, even locally.</strong> If you want your financial data protected at rest on your own computer, this gives you a higher level of security than before.</li>
<li><strong>Groundwork for the future.</strong> Encryption also lays the foundation for an optional online-capable version of SavePoint down the road. When that arrives, local encryption will be required for it. For today's offline-only client, it stays completely optional.</li>
</ul>

<p style="margin: 0 0 10px;"><strong>Please read this before you turn encryption on. This is VERY important.</strong></p>
<p style="margin: 0 0 10px;">Real encryption has no backdoor, and that is exactly what makes it worth having. When you enable it, SavePoint gives you a one-time <strong>recovery key</strong> in addition to your password. If you lose <strong>both</strong> your password and your recovery key, your data is permanently unrecoverable. Not by you, and not by the SavePoint team. We cannot reset it, and we cannot get it back for you. There is nothing we can do and that is by design. This is why we say in many places and multiple times that this is very important and you must be aware of the consequences should you lose your key.</p>
<p style="margin: 0;">Encryption is not for everyone, and that is okay. For those who want that extra security boost, you will have that ability, just with the cost that if you lose your information, there is nothing anyone on our team can do for you. If you turn it on, save your recovery key somewhere safe and separate from your computer. </div>

<p><strong>How it works when you turn it on:</strong> a guided wizard walks you through acknowledging how encryption works, choosing a strong password (12+ characters or 4+ words, checked against known breached passwords offline), and saving your one-time recovery key. SavePoint even asks you to re-enter two random parts of the recovery key to make sure you actually saved it. The conversion is atomic and verified before anything is swapped, and your original file is renamed aside rather than modified in place, so a crash mid-conversion never leaves you stranded.</p>
<p><strong>Unlocking and living with it:</strong> encrypted installs show a dedicated unlock screen at launch, translated into all 8 supported languages. You can change your password at any time (fast, no full re-encryption), rotate your recovery key, and optionally enable convenience features like unlocking automatically on your own trusted computer or auto-locking after a period of inactivity. All of those conveniences are off by default.</p>
<p><strong>Multi-person households are handled properly.</strong> Each user gets their own key wrapped under their own login password, so there is no shared secret to pass around. Everyone unlocks with the password they already know.</p>
<p><strong>Backups keep up.</strong> When your database is encrypted, backups are created in our new <code>.spbk</code> format, a consistent, encrypted snapshot that you can restore on any machine with your password or recovery key. A one-time reminder also makes clear that <strong>exported files (CSV, Excel, PDF) are never encrypted</strong>, since the whole point of an export is to open it elsewhere.</p>

<h3>Smarter Auto-Categorization When You Import</h3>
<p>When you import a bank or credit card file, SavePoint tries to suggest the right category for each transaction so you are not typing them in by hand. In v1.6.1 that engine got meaningfully smarter and more honest about what it knows.</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Your Merchant Mapping rules now power category suggestions.</strong> Previously, the merchant patterns you set up in Settings only influenced the later vendor-level step of the import. Now they also feed the earlier Category Mapping step, so a vendor you have already taught SavePoint about gets suggested right away. To keep it trustworthy, a suggestion only appears when <strong>every</strong> matching vendor in a group resolves to the same category. If there is any conflict, SavePoint leaves it unsuggested rather than guessing.</li>
<li><strong>Every suggestion is now a clickable button.</strong> SavePoint computes up to three ranked suggestions per row (from your history, from smart keyword matching, and from your merchant patterns). It used to only surface the top one and hide the rest behind a "+2 more" label. Now all of them are buttons; click the one you want and it applies instantly.</li>
<li><strong>A new "Historical Match Window" setting.</strong> Under Settings &gt; Merchant Mapping, you can now choose how far back SavePoint looks when matching against your history (last 3, 6, 12, or 24 months; 12 is the default). Previously this was never a real choice: one step quietly rode on whatever date filter happened to be on your Transactions page, and another searched your entire history with no limit at all. Now it is a single, deliberate setting that both steps respect.</li>
</ul>
<p>We also fixed several quiet accuracy problems in the matcher itself:</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>No more false matches on tiny words.</strong> The historical matcher could match on incidental fragments. In testing, an imported "MCDONALDS #4521" was being suggested "Gasoline" because an unrelated old transaction, "FUEL 4 FREEDOM," happened to share the digit "4." Both sides of a match now require at least three characters, so distinctive words like "STARBUCKS" still match while stray digits no longer do.</li>
<li><strong>The smart-match keyword list now points at categories that actually exist.</strong> Several built-in keyword rules referenced category names that were never SavePoint's real defaults, so they silently produced nothing. They are now aligned to the real default categories (for example, gas maps to Gasoline, electric maps to Electricity), and guesswork entries that had no sensible target were removed rather than left to mis-categorize.</li>
<li><strong>Household data stays separated.</strong> The "Auto Map Similar Vendors" lookup is now correctly scoped to the person doing the import, so on a shared household database it can no longer draw suggestions from another member's transaction history.</li>
</ul>

<h3>Import Wizard: See More of Your File Before You Commit</h3>
<p>A few small additions remove the need to keep flipping back to your spreadsheet during import:</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Header row now shows the following row too.</strong> The Column Mapping step already previewed your chosen header row. Now it also shows the row immediately after it, which is a real help when a bank's headers are ambiguous on their own (some banks use "Category" and "Description" to mean different things). You get the full context without opening the file.</li>
<li><strong>Amount Direction step shows your real data.</strong> When you tell SavePoint whether expenses are positive or negative in your file, it now shows your actual column headers plus the first few rows of your file, unmodified, so you can see the signs for yourself instead of guessing.</li>
<li><strong>Required fields are marked.</strong> The mapping step now flags the fields SavePoint needs (Date, Description, Category, Amount, and target Account) with a clear "Required" indicator.</li>
<li><strong>A heads-up before importing unmapped rows.</strong> If any transactions still have no category mapping when you hit Confirm Import, SavePoint now tells you up front and lets you go back and fix them, rather than skipping them silently mid-import.</li>
</ul>

<h3>New Transaction Filters</h3>
<p>The Transactions page gets three practical new filters:</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>"This Year"</strong> shows January 1 through December 31 of the current year.</li>
<li><strong>"Year to Date"</strong> shows January 1 through today.</li>
<li><strong>"Income &amp; Expense"</strong> is a new type filter that shows income and expense transactions together while hiding internal transfers and card payments, which is the view most people want when reviewing what they actually earned and spent.</li>
</ul>
<p>All three are localized across all 8 supported languages.</p>

<h3>Backups, Windows, and Other Fixes</h3>
<ul>
<li><strong>Backups are now a consistent snapshot.</strong> All backups (manual, automatic, and the safety backup before risky operations) now use a proper consistent snapshot instead of copying a live database file, which quietly improves reliability for everyone, encrypted or not.</li>
<li><strong>"On Exit" backups now run reliably when you close with the window's X button</strong>, not only when logging out.</li>
<li><strong>Your backup frequency now saves.</strong> Choosing a frequency like "On Startup" previously reverted after a restart. Fixed.</li>
<li><strong>Ctrl or Shift clicking an in-app link no longer opens a second app window.</strong></li>
<li>On the Accounts page, <strong>External Account links</strong> now open up in your default web browser (not the SavePoint window). SavePoint itself has been and still is completely offline-only.</li>
<li><strong>"Require password on startup" now truly holds</strong> across closing and reopening the app, not just at the profile picker.</li>
</ul>

It lays the groundwork for a future online-capable version of SavePoint, where local encryption will be part of the foundation. To be clear, Online-Capable will ALWAYS be completely optional. <p>Version 1.6 is here, and it delivers the single most-requested workflow in SavePoint's history: <strong>Envelope Budgeting</strong>. We have been working on this one for a while, and we are thrilled to finally share it. It is a complete, opt-in way to <strong>budget with intent</strong>: you fund an envelope for each category and watch your spendable balances move in real time as money comes in and goes out. It handles both cash and credit-card spending, supports rollover, reset, reset-to-a-set-amount, sinking funds, and future funds, closes and reopens months, carries your envelopes across the new year automatically, and reconciles against your Balance Sheet so you always know whether your envelopes match real cash. It is fully translated across all 8 supported languages. This release also brings new Sub Category filters to Reports. Thank you again for being part of the SavePoint community. Envelope Budgeting was the feature you asked for most, and your feedback shaped every piece of it.</p>

<h3>Envelope Budgeting: Budget with Intent</h3>
<p>Envelope Budgeting is opt-in and sits alongside your existing Classic budget. You turn it on in <strong>Settings &gt; Budgeting</strong> by switching your Budgeting Style from Classic to Envelope, and you can switch between the two whenever you like with your work in each kept. The two modes mostly operate on their own, with one deliberate overlap worth knowing: an envelope's <strong>Monthly Fund Target</strong> is the same number as that category's <strong>Monthly Budget</strong> in Classic for that year, so editing it in one place updates the other.</p>
<p>When you enable it, SavePoint sets everything up automatically. Each expense category becomes a <strong>spending envelope</strong> you can fund, a single <strong>Unassigned Cash</strong> envelope holds money that has not been given a task yet, and a <strong>Card Payment Reserve</strong> is created for each credit card account. Your starting cash on hand is seeded in so your books balance from day one.</p>

<p><strong>The core loop.</strong> Income lands in Unassigned Cash. From there you fund your envelopes, which moves money out of Unassigned Cash and earmarks it for a purpose. As you spend, the matching envelope's <strong>Available</strong> balance drops. Every envelope row shows <strong>Funded</strong>, <strong>Spent</strong>, and <strong>Available</strong> with a progress bar that turns red when you overspend, and a month navigator lets you browse past and future periods.</p>

<p><strong>Fund, move, and create envelopes:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Fund Envelopes</strong> moves money from Unassigned Cash into a chosen envelope. Your total cash does not change; you are deciding which task those dollars do.</li>
<li><strong>Move Money</strong> shifts money between any two envelopes, the quick way to cover an overspent envelope from another.</li>
<li><strong>New Envelope</strong> creates a custom envelope or one linked to an existing category, with a role (Spending, Sinking Fund, or Debt) and a behavior at month end (Rollover, Reset, or Reset to a set amount).</li>
</ul>

<p><strong>Focus your list with view filters.</strong> A view filter at the top of your envelopes lets you switch between <strong>All</strong> (every envelope), <strong>Overspent</strong> (only envelopes where Available has gone negative, so you can see what needs covering), <strong>Underfunded</strong> (envelopes that have not reached their monthly target yet, handy while you work through Fund Envelopes), and <strong>Hide $0</strong> (tucks away envelopes that are completely idle this month). It makes a long envelope list easy to work through.</p>

<p><strong>Credit cards, handled honestly.</strong> By default, spending on a credit card does two things at once: it draws down the category envelope you spent from and moves the same amount into that card's <strong>Card Payment Reserve</strong>. When the real Credit Card Payment posts (cash actually leaves checking), the reserve drops by the payment amount, so your envelopes stay reconciled to cash even while you carry a card balance. If you pay your card in full every cycle, you can switch to a simpler "treat card spending as cash" mode instead.</p>

<p><strong>Rollover, sinking funds, and future funds.</strong> Each envelope decides what happens at month end: keep the leftover, reset to zero (sweeping the remainder back to Unassigned Cash), or top up to a fixed amount. <strong>Sinking Funds</strong> are envelopes you save into over time (vacation, insurance, car maintenance, holiday gifts, taxes), with a target, a progress bar, and a pacing line. <strong>Future Funds</strong> is money you set aside today for a specific future month, with a one-click "Fund Next Month" preset and easy release back to Unassigned Cash.</p>

<p><strong>Close a month, and cross into a new year.</strong> Closing a month rolls every envelope forward according to its behavior and freezes the rule it closed under, so editing an envelope later never rewrites a month you already closed. And when a new calendar year begins, SavePoint now <strong>finalizes the old year and carries your envelopes forward automatically</strong>, oldest month first, so January is ready to go.</p>

<p><strong>Reconciliation you can trust.</strong> In SavePoint, your cash on hand comes from your Balance Sheet, not from summing transactions. Envelope Budgeting holds to one simple idea: the sum of your envelopes should equal your cash on hand. A banner on the Budget page shows Cash on Hand vs Envelopes Total vs Drift, and a one-click <strong>Reconcile to Cash</strong> button folds any difference into Unassigned Cash.</p>

<p><strong>Where else it shows up:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Accounts:</strong> Choose which accounts are part of the envelope budget (liquid assets and credit cards by default), so investments do not inflate your Unassigned Cash.</li>
<li><strong>Transactions:</strong> Reassign an envelope with a single click on the category cell, or select several transactions and Re-envelope them in bulk.</li>
<li><strong>Dashboard:</strong> Three envelope cards appear in envelope mode: Unassigned Cash and Future Funds, Overspent Envelopes, and your top Sinking Fund Progress bars.</li>
<li><strong>Reports:</strong> Three envelope reports show up while envelope mode is on, Envelope Month (a month-end snapshot of every envelope), Envelope Trends (how funding and spending move over time), and Sinking-Fund Progress (each goal's progress).</li>
</ul>

<p>A short onboarding wizard walks you through the whole idea, and there are plain-language tooltips and help popovers throughout. <p style="margin: 0;">You do not need to re-run setup. When you turn on Envelope mode, you'll first choose <strong>which accounts are part of your budget</strong> (keep checking, cash, savings, and credit cards in; leave investments and property out so they don't inflate your starting cash). Keep in mind that <strong>spending from an account you leave out won't show as Spent on any envelope</strong>, that is by design, so include the accounts you actually spend from. Next, make sure those accounts' <strong>Balance Sheet balances are up to date</strong>, because Envelope mode sets your starting <strong>Unassigned Cash</strong> from them, not from past transactions. Then switch your Budgeting Style to Envelope in <strong>Settings &gt; Budgeting</strong>, and <strong>fund the current month forward</strong>, there's no need to rebuild past months or re-enter old transactions; your prior history becomes your starting cash. If a drift notice ever appears (for example after you update a balance or change which accounts are included), click <strong>Reconcile to Cash</strong> once to line everything up. You can switch back to Classic any time and your envelope work is kept.</p>

<h3>Reports: Sub Category Filters and a Multi-Select Hint</h3>
<p>In addition to Envelopes which is the star of this release, we have a smaller but powerful update to Reports to share, which will give you more depth to leverage your data.
<p>Reports gains new <strong>Sub Category 1</strong> and <strong>Sub Category 2</strong> filters that let you slice any transaction-based report by subcategory. They stack on top of your existing account, category, currency, member, and tag filters, and they are smart about it: the dropdowns only list subcategory values that actually exist in the transactions left after your other filters. Pick Category = Groceries first, and the subcategory dropdowns show only what exists on Groceries transactions. A small hint also now reminds you that you can <strong>hold Ctrl (or Cmd on Mac) to select multiple</strong> options in the Account, Category, and Currency filters.</p>

<p>Version 1.5 is here, and this release finally delivers on the two most-asked-for features alongside a wide set of new capabilities and refinements. Households is finally here, and is a full cross-cutting system across Accounts, Budget, Transactions, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, and Reports. Tags is a flexible labeling layer with default Tax/Business/General groups, per-split tagging in Advanced mode, and powerful Tag Summary and Tax Summary reports. The FIRE projection engine has been completely rewritten with proper post-retirement drawdown, the Cash Flow Center and Yearly Trends both get full Excel and PDF exports, and compensation tracking now handles job end dates and multi-role/promotion detection. Thank you again for being part of the SavePoint community. Your feedback has shaped just about every change in this release.</p>

<h3>Households: Multi-Person Finance Tracking, Fully Delivered</h3>
<p>Households feature now is completely integrated into SavePoint, built on top of the existing framework as a complete cross-cutting system. You pick one of three modes, members are tracked with full profile detail, shared expenses split automatically according to a contribution rule you choose, and member attribution flows through every page in the app.</p>
<p><strong>Three modes</strong> (set in Settings &gt; Household or during the Setup Wizard):</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Solo</strong> is the default. Single ledger, no member tracking, behaves exactly like SavePoint always has. Household features stay hidden until you opt in.</li>
<li><strong>Simple Household</strong>: each transaction gets one Owner (a specific person) or is marked Shared. Budget lines show "Paid By" and "Income For" member badges. Accounts get an Owner column and filter buttons (All / Individual / Joint). Best for most couples and multi-income households.</li>
<li><strong>Advanced Household</strong>: everything in Simple, plus per-split member attribution with custom amounts or percentages, per-line budget overrides, and a Balance Sheet by Member view. For households that need granular control over how costs are divided (roommates splitting utilities differently than groceries, families where one person earns much more, etc.).</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Members</strong> each carry a name, short label (used in badges and column headers), color, emoji, and role (Primary, Member, Dependent, or Business). An active/inactive toggle lets you deactivate a member without losing their historical attributions on transactions, budget lines, or income plans.</p>
<p><strong>Contribution rules</strong> for shared expenses:</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Equal split</strong> divides shared amounts evenly across active members.</li>
<li><strong>Proportional to income</strong> computes each member's share based on their budgeted annual income, so a member earning 60% of household income automatically covers 60% of shared expenses.</li>
<li><strong>Custom percentages</strong> let you set explicit splits (70/30, 50/30/20, whatever you need).</li>
</ul>
<p>In Advanced mode, these defaults can be overridden on individual transactions or budget lines.</p>
<p><strong>Where Households surfaces:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Accounts page:</strong> Assign a default member to each account or mark it Joint/Shared. New Owner column with member badges and All / Individual / Joint filter buttons.</li>
<li><strong>Budget page:</strong> Income sources show an "Income For" label; expense lines show "Paid By". Filter the entire budget by member, and the math respects the filter (Sarah's budget view sums her owned expenses plus her share of shared expenses according to the active contribution rule).</li>
<li><strong>Transactions page:</strong> New Owner column, Owner filter dropdown, and per-split member assignment in Advanced mode.</li>
<li><strong>Balance Sheet:</strong> Per-member view showing only that person's accounts and balances, so each member can see what they actually own.</li>
<li><strong>Cash Flow:</strong> Member filter respects the same attribution rules.</li>
<li><strong>Reports:</strong> A new <strong>Household Budget Report</strong> breaks down income, expenses, and net by member, with a shared-expense attribution breakdown so each person can see what their fair share is. Member filter dropdown across all reports.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Setup Wizard onboarding:</strong> New users get the Household question right inside the Setup Wizard, with the three modes laid out and inline member setup (name, short label, color, emoji) plus a contribution rule with plain-English explanations under each option. The Review step includes a Household summary card so you can confirm your choices before saving. Re-running setup is fully additive: existing members are updated in place, rows you remove inside the wizard are never deleted from the database, and your member attributions on transactions and budgets stay safe.</p>

<p style="margin: 0;"><strong>Already past setup?</strong> You don't need to re-run the wizard to start using Households or Tags. Head to <strong>Settings &gt; Household</strong> to enable any mode, add members, and pick a contribution rule, and <strong>Settings &gt; Tags</strong> to start labeling transactions. The new wizard step is for new users coming in fresh. Switching back to Solo at any time hides household features without losing any of your member attributions in the database.</p>

<h3>Tags: Flexible Cross-Cutting Labels</h3>
<p>Tags are a secondary organizational layer that works alongside (not instead of) your normal categories. Where categories answer "what type of expense is this?" (Groceries, Utilities, Medical), tags answer "what else is true about it?" Reimbursable business expenses, tax-deductible spending, vacation budgets, project costs, health-related, anything that cuts across normal categories.</p>
<p><strong>Default tag library:</strong> Click "Create Default Tags" in Settings &gt; Tags to seed your library with three groups:</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Tax</strong>: Taxable Income, Non-Taxable Income, Tax Review Needed, Medical Deductible, Charitable, plus other deduction categories.</li>
<li><strong>Business</strong>: Business Expense, Reimbursable, Client Project, etc.</li>
<li><strong>General</strong>: Health-Related, Travel, Subscription, and more.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Custom tags</strong> carry name, color, emoji, group assignment, and an optional description. Tags can be deactivated without losing their historical use on transactions, and you can edit any tag's appearance and group at any time.</p>
<p><strong>Where Tags surfaces:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Transactions page:</strong> A Tags filter appears in the filter bar when tags exist (multi-select with OR logic). The Add/Edit Transaction modal includes a Tags field; tags display in the table's Tags column.</li>
<li><strong>Per-split tagging</strong> (Advanced mode): individual splits within a transaction can carry their own tags. A single Costco transaction split across Groceries and Supplies can have one line tagged <em>#business</em> while the other is tagged <em>#reimbursable</em>.</li>
<li><strong>Tag Summary report:</strong> Income and expenses per tag, with transaction count, average size, and largest transaction per tag. Summary cards show your top tag by spend, most-used tag, number of tags with activity, and your overall tagging coverage percentage. Unused tags surface separately.</li>
<li><strong>Tax Summary report:</strong> Tax-specific. Classifies income as taxable or non-taxable based on tax tags, groups deductions by tax tag with <strong>deduplication</strong> (each transaction counted once even if it carries multiple tax tags) and overlap detection, and surfaces a Review Queue of unclassified income or transactions needing tax review.</li>
<li><strong>Filter dropdown across all reports</strong> so you can run any report through a tag filter (and combine it with the household member filter for questions like "How much of Sarah's expenses were tax-deductible?").</li>
<li><strong>CSV and Excel exports</strong> include tags as a comma-separated Tags column (and per-split tags in split-row exports).</li>
</ul>
<p>v1.5 brings Tags to full polish: the entire Settings &gt; Tags tab is now <strong>fully internationalized across all 8 supported languages</strong>, including all toasts and confirm dialogs. The Add/Edit Tag form also now uses the same categorized emoji picker as the setup wizard's category picker, with searchable 18-category coverage. And we fixed a quietly painful issue where Settings &gt; Export Data was silently dropping every tag column from CSV exports.</p>

<h3>FIRE Planning: Rewritten From the Ground Up</h3>
<p>The FIRE projection engine has been completely rewritten as a two-phase model that correctly switches behavior at your target retirement age.</p>
<p>Pre-FIRE works the way it always did. <strong>Post-FIRE</strong> properly stops adding savings, runs a signed cashflow of <code>(Social Security + Post-FIRE Income) - Gross Expenses</code>, and either invests the surplus or withdraws the deficit. When a withdrawal exceeds the balance, the unfunded gap is tracked as a <strong>cumulative shortfall</strong> instead of clamping silently at zero.</p>
<p>Every row in the projection table now has an <strong>info-circle button</strong> that opens a modal explaining the exact math behind that year's number. Phase indicator, the actual formula used for that row in plain language, inputs at 2-decimal precision so the math reconciles to the displayed number, and a mode-behavior block explaining Real vs Nominal. You can verify any row line by line.</p>
<p>The Monte Carlo dashboard also gains a new <strong>Today's $ / Future $ toggle</strong> so the eye-popping nominal figures (a $174M nominal at age 100 is really $31M in today's purchasing power after 70 years of 2.5% inflation) can be viewed in current purchasing power. Today's $ is the default, matching mainstream FIRE planning convention.</p>
<p>Real-Dollar mode is now also consistent end to end, and the Coast FIRE math now correctly discounts by the real return rate, which fixes a long-standing case where Coast FIRE targets could be understated by half on long horizons.</p>

<h3>Cash Flow Center &amp; Yearly Trends: Full Excel and PDF Exports</h3>
<p>Both pages now get a green <strong>Export</strong> dropdown with Excel and PDF options, matching the visual style of the existing Balance Sheet exports. The Cash Flow PDF includes a branded SavePoint header, summary cards, all four chart images (Cash Flow Trend, Top 5 Categories, Income vs Expense, Budget vs Actual), and Income Sources and Expense Categories tables that line up vertically across the page in either year or single-month mode. The Yearly Trends PDF mirrors the on-screen layout (salary breakdown, income, expenses grouped by subcategory, net cashflow, spending breakdown) plus six summary cards, a captured chart, and a year-over-year table that auto-orients landscape when four or more years are visible. Excel exports keep numbers as numbers (sortable, sumable) with currency formatting pulled from your primary currency setting, plus frozen header and first columns. Charts are captured with <strong>theme-independent colors</strong> so legend labels stay readable in either light or dark mode.</p>

<h3>Compensation Tracking: Job End Dates &amp; Multi-Role Support</h3>
<p>Base salary entries can now carry an optional <strong>end date</strong> to mark when a job actually stops (quitting, retiring, layoff) instead of having the entry run forever until superseded. A new End Job quick action on active rows opens a date picker, and the calculation engine respects the end date so a half-year job at $120k now shows $59,506.85 in actual prorated earnings instead of $120,000.</p>
<p>The compensation calc now groups by <code>(employer, job title)</code> instead of just employer, so <strong>parallel roles at the same company</strong> are tracked independently instead of having one entry silently dropped from the year total. When you add a new entry with a different job title at an employer where another entry is still active, SavePoint asks "I got promoted" or "I picked up a second role". Case-insensitive matching prevents phantom employers from typos.</p>

<h3>Notes on Balance Entries</h3>
<p>Every daily balance can now carry an optional free-text <strong>note</strong> like "Statement balance" or "Adjusted for pending transfer". The Edit Balance modal has a Notes textarea, the Recent Balance History and View All Account Balance History modals show a Notes column with hover-to-expand truncation, and CSV/Excel import treats Notes as an optional 4th column with auto-detection of common header names. Both the Balance Sheet page Export and Settings &gt; Export Daily Balances now include a Notes column as well.</p>

<h3>Trial-to-Paid Import</h3>
<p>If you've been using the SavePoint trial and decided to upgrade, the full version can now import your trial database directly from the login screen. A new <strong>Import from Trial Version</strong> button appears on fresh installs once your license is activated. Auto-detection (with a file picker fallback), preview of what will be imported, automatic backup of your current database, and full schema validation via a staging file with SQLite integrity and foreign key checks before touching your real database.</p>

<h3>Other Improvements</h3>
<p><strong>FIRE Scenarios:</strong> Scenarios now route through the same canonical projection and Monte Carlo engines as the main plan, so per-scenario MC numbers are directly comparable to the main MC tab. Per-scenario SWR overrides, Edit and Duplicate actions, a Plan column, and an Advanced Overrides section with five inputs that inherit from the parent plan when left empty.</p>
<p><strong>Settings &gt; Household:</strong> The full Household tab content is now internationalized across all 8 supported languages, matching the Tags i18n work described above.</p>
<p><strong>Transactions:</strong> Search now matches notes in addition to description, payee, category, account, and amount. Reset All Filters now clears Owner and Tag. Edit Mode keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl+S, Ctrl+A) respect Caps Lock and Shift.</p>
<p><strong>Database filename:</strong> Standardized to <code>savepoint.db</code> for new installs. Existing users are silently migrated from the legacy <code>savepoint-dev.db</code> via copy-and-atomic-rename on first launch. The original file is never touched, so you always have a natural backup.</p>
